Abstract

This M.A. thesis introduces the church’s commitment to Jesus’ example in discipleship throughout witnessing growth and constancy. This thesis consists of five chapters:

The first chapter is an introduction to the recession state experienced by the church of Kafer-Yassef, were the ministry was unable to shepherd the people that accepted the Lord. In addition, this section gave a historical preface about Christianity since it was founded until today. Although statistics show that Christians’ population is approximately the third of the world’s population, evil still controls the world.

The second chapter gives a clearer explanation from the Bible on discipleship and relates it to Jesus Christ as a role model, by which He initiated a group of followers that were able to touch and change hearts.

The third chapter portrays the role of the church in discipleship, how spiritual prosperity affects the members of the church and influences their role in the society, given that the church is the light of the world and salt of the earth.

The fourth chapter is dedicated to the Evangelical Church in Kafer-Yassef. It underlines the state of the church between the past and the present; the strategy used to bring forth the spiritual life of the believers and local converts to Christianity. The church helped initiated servants whom are rooted in Christ. The success of this strategy has been valued by the community new members through a questionnaire.

Finally, the fifth chapter is a brief summary in addition to some prudent advices given to the rest of the Churches.
